12-inch-high Porcelain Dog Statue, Cream White Shiba Inu, Glossy Glaze in Sitting postion, Made in Japan. This lifelike dog figurine is also the nearly life-size statue of the small dog breed. It nicely represents the Shiba's uniue breed characteristics, such as the stout body with thick furry coat and dense muscles, a cute curled tail, and the clever-looking handsome face, which exhibits the refined spirit of the Shiba Inu.

Note: This statue is for indoor use only. We can make it resistant to the weather by changing its clay material. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to display it outdoors, but allow at least one to two months for your requested item to be ready.
It has a sticker on the bottom that reads "Seto-yaki"(瀬戸焼). 'Seto-yaki' is a general term for porcelain products made in Seto Japan, which includes all kinds of porcelain items such as animal, human, Disney and more figurines, and also chinaware for practical as well as decorative purposes. "Seto" is a city located in the center of Japan, and is also the center for Japan's ceramics industry.
This Shiba Inu statue is brand-new though it was made from a somewhat vintage mold which has probably been used since the '70s or '80s. In those days, a large quantity of dog figurines was produced in Japan and exported worldwide under various brand names, such as Shafford, Napco or Lefton... Those manufacturers now no longer exist. However, some of their casting molds have been passed down and some dog breeds are still made in a small way in a small factory run by a husband and wife team, where this Shiba statue was also made.

My store provides Japanese Seto-yaki porcelain figurines. 'Seto-yaki' is a general term for porcelain products made in Seto Japan.
Seto is a city located in the center of Japan, and is also the center for Japan's ceramics industry.
From Occupied Japan Era to the late '70s, Seto-yaki items under various brand names used to be exported worldwide. However, as the ceramics industry has been declining year by year, many manufacturers have been forced to shut down their factories in the last few decades. But now, there are still lots of vintage products and reproductions available from local stores out there. Please sometimes stop by my eBay store to come upon a rare find.
