Vintage Art Deco FIVE PIECE Dress Set of cufflinks and studs - in their original fitted case!  And in Very Good condition!
These beautiful vintage cuff links and studs feature smooth disks in shimmering abalone shell - like mother of pearl, but with a lovely luster ranging from a smoky silver to a rose cast, with an aura of blue-green, gold and rose, depending on the play of light.  It is mesmerizing to watch how the colors change with movement.  While the backs of the links are in yellow gold-tone, the fronts are silver-tone, which is most harmonious with the shell.  The borders have a pattern of concentric rings, studded with 8 dots, which adds texture, contrast and interest and frames the faces, giving them a finished look, like a painting.  Unfortunately my inadequate photos do not begin to capture the glowing beauty of this set.  It is quite magical!
Well-made, in addition to the pair of double-sided cuff links, there are three studs, making up a five piece formal or tuxedo set.
The faces of the cufflinks measure about 9/16" diameter and the studs are about 5/16".
The shield-shaped, stippled black leatherette-coated metal case (next to last photo) measures about 3-5/8" by just under 3-3/4" in its largest dimensions, by about 3/4" deep.  It is signed "Krementz" on the top, flanked with an Art Deco pattern of graduated lines above and below, and with something illegible over "Boston" on the back.  Inside, under the lid, it is signed "Krementz" with the same Art Deco stepped design on the beige silk lining.  On the bottom is a fitted pad insert covered in black.
All 5 pieces are signed on the backs of the faces, "Krementz."  (Last photo.)
With a long history as a family company known for the quality of its workmanship and service, Krementz was founded in the mid 1800's in Newark, New Jersey by George Krementz to create men's jewelry, including collar buttons and cufflinks.  When they later started using gold overlay and rolled gold plate, they did not sacrifice quality as, according to their ads of that period, they used gold 30 times thicker than did other manufacturers and their pieces were never cheap.  These are not marked as to metal content but the finish shows no signs of wear.
All pieces and the box are in Very Good vintage condition with just normal light "shelf" wear (surface dirt and scratches, including a little on the fabric as well as the box, where there are a couple slight depressions), consistent with age.  The pull tab that may be tucked under the top of the pad is intact.  Absolutely nothing of consequence.
In the original fitted case, this set makes a lovely presentation.  Needless to say, it would make a perfect gift!  This handsome set is just what you need and will take you in style to all special occasions.  And of course, you can always wear the links alone on any shirt with French cuffs.
The smooth shell and textured frames is a wonderful combination and this set is so good looking.  Much nicer than it appears in my inadequate photos!  In its charming fitted case, this handsome vintage 5 Piece Dress Set, with its classic elegance and subtle sheen, will add a captivating luminosity to your shirt and make a worthy addition to a collection of quality and distinction.
